As the glass ceiling continues to break in Malaysia and Asia, more women are entering the professional arena especially in Science and Technology. However, culturally and socially, the old norms are still in place and many women are faced with the challenges of being professionals, employees, wives, mothers, sisters, daughters grandmothers and more- and balancing roles and tasks in the 21st Century with added stresses and pressures.
PICO IONA is in the process of building a community of like-minded women of all ages in the scientific and research community; women who may be facing similar challenges and might feel alone in their situations. This support group will focus on information sharing, emotional health and wellness, coaching help, mentoring, forming friendships and working as a body towards helping themselves and the community.
